Vail Nordic Clubhouse Wedding in Vail, Colorado
The Vail Nordic Clubhouse is a beautiful Colorado mountain wedding venue with incredible Gore Range views, an outdoor ceremony lawn, and a modern reception space just minutes from Vail Village. I recently photographed a wedding here where the couple held their ceremony on the lawn beside the clubhouse and took their portraits around the property, including the bridge leading to Wedding Island. As a Colorado wedding photographer, I appreciate venues that offer beautiful scenery without requiring couples to spend their day traveling between locations. The combination of mountain views, convenient event spaces, and a relaxed outdoor setting makes this a wonderful choice for a Vail wedding.

Vail Nordic Clubhouse Wedding Venue FAQ
Located approximately two miles from Vail Village, the Vail Nordic Clubhouse offers beautiful mountain scenery, indoor and outdoor event spaces, and views of the Gore Range. Couples can choose between outdoor ceremony locations, including the clubhouse lawn and Wedding Island. The clubhouse also has a spacious indoor banquet room, an outdoor patio, and in-house catering. It's a great option for couples who want a traditional mountain wedding with the convenience of having their ceremony and reception in the same area.
Where Is the Vail Nordic Clubhouse?
The venue is located at 1775 Sunburst Drive in Vail, Colorado, approximately two miles from Vail Village. It's surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery, with views of the Gore Range and access to the surrounding landscape. The setting feels like a Colorado mountain wedding without requiring guests to travel far from the restaurants, lodging, and amenities of Vail.
How Many Wedding Guests Can the Vail Nordic Clubhouse Accommodate?
The clubhouse has approximately 2,700 square feet of banquet space and can accommodate up to 160 seated wedding guests. This makes it a good option for couples planning anything from a smaller celebration to a larger traditional wedding. The indoor reception space and outdoor ceremony options give couples flexibility when planning their event.
Where Can You Have Your Wedding Ceremony?
The Vail Nordic Clubhouse offers multiple outdoor ceremony options, including the lawn beside the clubhouse and Wedding Island. For the wedding I photographed, the couple chose the outdoor lawn directly next to the clubhouse. I really liked this arrangement. The ceremony had beautiful mountain views, and guests could transition easily into the reception afterward. Wedding Island is another option, although there are a few things I would encourage couples to consider before choosing it.
What Is the Gore Range Room?
The Gore Range Room is the main indoor banquet space at the Vail Nordic Clubhouse. With approximately 2,700 square feet of space and seating for up to 160 guests, the room accommodates traditional wedding receptions, dinners, and dancing. Large windows provide views of the surrounding mountains, and the adjoining patio offers outdoor gathering space. I appreciate having an indoor reception option at mountain venues because Colorado weather can change quickly, even during the summer.
Does the Vail Nordic Clubhouse Provide Catering?
Yes. The venue offers in-house catering with customizable banquet menus. This can make wedding planning easier for couples who prefer coordinating their reception meal directly through the venue. The property can also accommodate rehearsal dinners, welcome events, and farewell brunches.
Outdoor Wedding Ceremony on the Vail Nordic Clubhouse Lawn
For this wedding, the couple chose the ceremony lawn directly beside the clubhouse rather than Wedding Island.
I think this is a great option for couples who want an outdoor mountain ceremony without adding unnecessary complications to the day.
The Gore Range creates a beautiful backdrop, and having the reception space close by makes the transition between events easy for guests.
One thing I appreciate about this venue is that you can experience the beautiful Colorado scenery without needing to travel to another location for the different parts of your wedding.
The ceremony lawn also gives couples the opportunity to create a wedding atmosphere that feels relaxed and connected to the surrounding mountains.
Wedding Island Bridge Portraits at Vail
Although this couple didn't hold their ceremony on Wedding Island, we did take some of their wedding portraits on the bridge leading to the island.
The bridge is a beautiful photography location, especially with the surrounding mountain scenery.
It offers a different backdrop from the clubhouse lawn and adds variety to the wedding gallery without requiring a separate portrait location.
I love incorporating natural scenery into portraits, particularly when couples can enjoy the setting without spending a huge amount of time away from their guests.
Is Vail Wedding Island Noisy During Ceremonies?
This is something I would absolutely encourage couples to think about.
From my experience photographing at the property, traffic noise near Wedding Island was surprisingly loud.
Although the island itself is beautiful, the nearby road noise can make it difficult to hear an officiant speaking during the ceremony.
That's an important consideration, especially when you're imagining your guests being able to hear your vows and enjoy the moment.
If you're considering getting married on Wedding Island, I recommend visiting the property around the same time of day as your planned ceremony.
Spend a few minutes listening to the surrounding sounds rather than focusing only on the scenery.
You may also want to ask the venue about microphones and amplification options.
For portraits, I think the island bridge is lovely. For a ceremony, I would encourage couples to consider the sound conditions carefully before making their decision.
Why I Love Photographing Weddings at the Vail Nordic Clubhouse
The mountain scenery is one of the biggest advantages of this venue.
You have the Gore Range in the background, open outdoor spaces, trees, and the island bridge, all within the same general area.
As a photographer, I appreciate being able to create a variety of images without taking couples away from their celebration for long periods of time.
I also like the convenience of having the ceremony and reception close together.
Weddings already have enough moving parts. When the venue layout keeps things simple, couples have more time to enjoy the people they've invited.
My photography style is a mix of candid moments and gentle direction when needed. Mountain venues like this work especially well for that approach because the scenery provides such a beautiful natural backdrop.
Vail Nordic Clubhouse Wedding Photos
Below are photographs from a real wedding I captured at the Vail Nordic Clubhouse.
The couple exchanged vows on the outdoor ceremony lawn beside the clubhouse, with the Gore Range mountains creating a beautiful backdrop.
We also used the surrounding property for portraits, including the bridge leading to Wedding Island.
One of my favorite things about photographing mountain weddings is creating images that feel connected to the landscape without making the couple feel overly posed or uncomfortable.
Vail Wedding Planner Sylwia D'Amico of Glitter & Bliss Weddings
The wedding I photographed here was planned by Sylwia D'Amico, owner of Glitter & Bliss Weddings, a Vail Valley wedding planning company.
Sylwia has approximately 20 years of experience in hospitality and event planning, including working with some of the Vail Valley's best-known resorts.
Her knowledge of local venues and wedding logistics is especially helpful for couples planning destination weddings in Vail.
There are a lot of little details that go into coordinating a mountain wedding, from transportation and vendor timing to weather considerations.
Having a planner who knows the area can make the entire experience easier.
Sylwia's husband, Jeff D'Amico, was also part of the wedding as the DJ.
Jeff is an experienced Vail Valley wedding DJ who has appeared in wedding vendor directories under the name Vail-DJ.
It's always nice to work with local wedding professionals who understand the area and the unique considerations of planning a celebration in the mountains.
Who I'd Recommend the Vail Nordic Clubhouse For
I think this venue is especially appealing for couples who:
Want beautiful Gore Range mountain views
Like the idea of an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception
Prefer having everything in one convenient location
Want a traditional Colorado mountain wedding without complicated travel logistics
Appreciate having in-house catering
Have guests traveling to Vail for a destination wedding
Want a scenic setting with several portrait locations nearby
Prefer a comfortable reception space that doesn't depend entirely on the weather
For couples who want the mountain wedding experience while keeping the day relatively simple, this venue is definitely worth considering.
Planning Your Vail Mountain Wedding Photography Timeline
One thing I always encourage couples to think about is how much time they actually want to spend being photographed on their wedding day.
Of course you want beautiful portraits, but you also want time to enjoy your guests and the celebration you've spent so much energy planning.
One advantage of the Vail Nordic Clubhouse is that the ceremony lawn, reception facilities, and surrounding portrait locations are all conveniently located.
That makes it easier to create a photography timeline without unnecessary travel between locations.
I offer simplified hourly wedding photography because I believe couples should be able to choose the coverage that makes sense for their priorities.
Some couples want their ceremony, family photographs, portraits, and part of the reception documented. Others want photography throughout the entire day.
My goal is to help you find a timeline that works for the wedding you're actually planning, rather than forcing everything into a predetermined package.

About Heather
My Approach
I photograph weddings in a candid, relaxed style. Instead of heavy posing, I focus on helping couples feel comfortable so their photos reflect what the day actually felt like.
The Kind of Weddings I Love
I’m especially drawn to chill weddings, low stress ceremonies where couples care more about meaningful moments than a big production. When people feel relaxed and present, the best photos happen naturally.
What It's Like to Work With Me
Couples often tell me they were worried about feeling awkward in photos, but once they realize I’m paying attention to the little details and guiding when needed, they relax quickly. That’s when the most genuine moments appear.
